PRESS RELEASE

 

            The Connecticut Foundation for Open Government has announced the winners of its 2001 High School Essay Contest. The first prize of $500 went to Ms. Rebecca Willis of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village; second prize of $300 went to Ms. Christina Chamberlain of Bristol High School, Bristol; third prize of $200 went to Ms. Allison L. Holst-Grubbe of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village.

            The contest topic was, "How have the residents of the state of Connecticut benefited by the state's freedom of information laws?" This contest was open to high school students from anywhere in the state of Connecticut, and is intended to help educate young people on their rights as residents of the state of Connecticut to access information through public agencies. The contest has been approved by the CT Association of Schools in Cheshire.
